Expert Brings Servant Leadership to Healthcare

Roman Catholic Leader Uses Non-Violent Martial Arts to

Teach Catholic Servant Leadership to Healthcare Leaders

Cleveland, OH.  May 1,2008 --- Internationally recognized leadership expert Timothy H. Warneka will bring his cutting-edge leadership knowledge to healthcare when he keynotes Benedictine Health System’s annual leadership conference. Benedictine Health System (BHS) is one of the largest Catholic long-term care organizations in the United States. BHS’s annual leadership conference will be held this year in Duluth, Minnesota, will focus on the theme of “Advocating Justice for the Common Good.”

“I am honored to have been asked to speak on such a vital topic to such an important group of healthcare leaders, says Warneka, author of the first book on Catholic Servant Leadership. His book, entitled, Black Belt Leader, Peaceful Leader: An Introduction to Catholic Servant Leadership, combines Roman Catholic spirituality and social justice perspectives with insights from the revolutionary non-violent martial art of Aikido (“the art of Peace”). Warneka’s keynote speech is entitled, “Living the Path of Advocacy and Justice with Catholic Servant Leadership.”

Warneka, author of several internationally-acclaimed leadership books including Leading People the Black Belt Way: Conquering the Five Core Problems Facing Leaders Today; and The Way of Leading People: Unlocking Your Integral Leadership Skills with the Tao Te Ching; and Healing Katrina: Volunteering in Post-Hurricane Mississippi. Warneka provides leadership coaching, training and keynote speaking to organizations around the U.S. as well as internationally.

Last year’s BHS Leadership Conference included such notable keynote speakers as Dr. Mary Pipher, Ph.D. author of Reviving Ophelia and Another Country: Navigating the Emotional Terrain of our Elders, and Fred Lee, author of If Disney Ran Your Hospital: 9 ½ Things You Would Do Differently as well as patient advocate Dr. Wendy Leebov, Ed.D. “Last year’s keynote speaking lineup was quite impressive,” observed Warneka. “I’m looking forward to helping BHS leadership reach new heights this year.”

Warneka noted that his dynamic and highly interactive speaking style will be well-suited to BHS’s needs. “BHS asked me to do a Mission Keynote Speech, that is, a speech that comes at the end of the leadership conference that will motivate and inspire the audience as they finish the conference.”  Warneka will be video recording the keynote speech, and portions of his keynote will be available on popular video sites such as YouTube and Vimeo.

Warneka’s book Black Belt Leader, Peaceful Leader: An Introduction to Catholic Servant Leadership is available through on-line booksellers such as Amazon.com as well as through your local bookstore.
